Objective of this Website

Everybody (or at least almost) agrees that the Spiritism in its purest expression can be found in just one source: in Allan Kardec's works. That should be enough to help us clearly define what is and what is not Spiritism. But even so, there are still controversies between the spiritist groups, regarding to different interpretations about the same texts, which end causing some unease between the adepts. Some argue that the Spiritism would be a religion, others say no, some believe that the Spiritism would be universal, others disagree; some say the Spiritism would be ecumenical, others disagree, etc...

Of course that, in this brainstorm of points of view, we have our own preferences, which we always try to justify logically and also, like the others, we also believe to be with the reason under our point of view. And at the same time that we intend to spread only the good ideas and ignore everything that is wrong, we are also aware of our own imperfection and we consider the possibility of failing in our logical examination, what would make us, eventually, spread errors instead of the good ideas.

So we decided to call this website as simply Spiritist Opinion. Spiritist because it will always be based on the Spiritist Codification, including Posthumous Works (Oeuvres Posthumes), Spiritist Magazine (Revue Spirite) and other works of Allan Kardec in life. "Opinion", because it will always reflect our own understanding on the matters discussed, which may be more or less correct comparing to those that may think differently from us.

So, we don’t have the pretension to belong the absolute truth. We’ll expose our opinions considering them, under our own eyes, as legitimate spiritist ideas, in the best possible interpretation, but allowing the reader to decide whether the ideas are really worthy of being called spiritist.

This website will contain not only our own opinions, but opinions of other spiritist authors (who permit us to publish their articles, of course) with whose ideas we sympathize. It is important to emphasize that, from a same author, there can be ideas we agree and ideas we do not agree. By publishing here an article of a specific author, it does not mean that we ideologically solidarise to all ideas that he may believe. Our ideological solidarity, in principle, is only restricted to the published article(s). The same is true with respect to the author, who will not necessarily share all of our opinions.

In order to make this website compact and fruitful, we’ll also try not repeat themes here, unless if it is explained under a different point of view from previously submitted. So, our omission or even refusal to publish here articles from a specific author, does not necessarily imply in a disagreement from us with respect to his ideas. When we really have a disagreement, we’ll let them explicit when the time comes.

This website, therefore, will have a character more exclusive than universal, which we wish to contribute with our stone, and only with it, for the construction of the building of the spiritist knowledge. We wish the reader take a good advantage of it.

O Editor.
